Tenuta la Commenda has belonged to the Brunetti family since the 1940s when the grandfather bought the first “biolche”* of land.
Since the 1970s the family’s core business has been linked to the world of fashion, with the creation of a women’s clothing brand that is synonymous of quality throughout Italy.
Industrial success, however, has not extinguished the passion for the land.
In fact, the family Brunetti has always taken care of the estate, dedicating to it the due maintenance for conservation purposes, and about 15 years ago began an important diversification of investments with increasing rapprochement to the agricultural world and the cultivation of cereals and tomatoes.
The year 2020 was the turning point, with the acquisition of some land of special interest for viticulture and the extension of the vineyard to its current size of 30 hectares.
Passion for “things well done,” a reflective and courageous spirit, lead to the decision to produce sparkling wines with the best estate grapes, starting with a Martinotti method that will be flanked by a Metodo Classico, both rosé wines, fully representative of the culture and territory of Emilia.
The goal is to ennoble Lambrusco, a wine deeply linked to Bunetti’s land and origins, knowing that “good things” are always the result of serious work and a respected environment.
For Andrea, Davide, Lauro and Stefano, farming is now a family affair, and with “Tenuta la Commenda” the dream of producing grapes and great wines with a 100% Emilian soul is realized.
* The biolca is an agrarian unit of area measurement not belonging to the international system, used in various parts of Emilia, Mantua, Pavia, and other neighboring areas. It corresponds to the area of land estimated to be plowed in a day’s work with a plow pulled by two oxen.
