We are in the heart of Emilia-Romagna, in a wide and flat territory that stretches between the Po River and the Apennines. A place with deep peasant roots, devoted to agriculture and the cultivation of Lambrusco vines. Here, in the municipality of Rio Saliceto, in the province of Reggio, stands Tenuta la Commenda.
The Brunetti family, which has owned the estate for more than 80 years, has a very close bond with this territory and preserves intact the passion for caring for the land originated by their grandfather Fortunato, who bought the first “biolche” * of the estate in the 1940s.
Andrea, Davide, Lauro and Stefano are convinced that a glass of wine has the bouquet of tradition, passion and great dedication. They have chosen to dedicate themselves to viticulture with great respect for history while introducing innovative and environmentally friendly techniques.
The sparkling wines of Tenuta La Commenda come from vineyards cultivated using integrated pest management systems and arise from carefully selected grapes.
Meticulous harvesting follows thinning of the bunches, a courageous and uneconomic choice, but targeted to quality without compromise. The grapes produced here, as well as the wines, are the best expression of Lambrusco, a vine with great potential.
The family’s goal is to ennoble Lambrusco wine, giving it back the importance and interest it deserves. A wine with an ancient history, of great versatility, easy to match, with low alcohol and very interesting bouquets.
The aim is excellence from every point of view.
* The biolca is an agrarian unit of area measurement not belonging to the international system, used in various parts of Emilia, Mantua, Pavia, and other neighboring areas. It corresponds to the area of land estimated to be plowed in a day’s work with a plow pulled by two oxen.
